CHARTER OF THE PIGEON POINT NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL
The Pigeon Point Neighborhood Council addresses the concerns of all the households in our area, which is bordered by Spokane Street, SW on the north, Delridge Avenue, SW on the west,West Marginal Way on the east, and Puget Park/Oregon Avenue (including the new Cooper Elementary School/park property) on the South.
Pigeon Point is a neighborhood that is almost totally separated from other neighborhoods geographically. We want to encourage community use of all its resources as well as providing a way for neighborhood residents to get information on area development plans, and to help neighbors implement plans for neighborhood improvement.
The Council is open to anyone living in the neighborhood, and will adhere to a strict non- discrimination policy in all of its activities.
The Council will be supported by donations from local residents and by grants that will be applied for to implement specific projects. Financial records and meeting minutes will be maintained by the Chair(s) of the committee, and will be open for perusal to all neighborhood residents.
The Council will maintain an up-to-date lot map of the neighborhood as well as a database of neighborhood residents (on a voluntary basis) that will be used only to maintain neighborhood contacts and to keep neighbors informed of local activities.
The Pigeon Point Neighborhood Council will be represented on the Delridge District Council.
Included in the Neighborhood Council's primary areas of interest are:
-Traffic calming and road improvement
-Neighborhood safety (Blockwatch)
-Use of Cooper School facilities and adjoining park land
-Helping Neighbors to improve the look of properties (trash removal, etc.)
-Providing information to neighbors on City and other services, as well as opportunities for neighborhood involvement (Newsletters/Meetings)
